In a major turn of events, a witness who had turned hostile in the actress attack case has informed the prosecution through a friend that he is now ready to reveal the 'truth'. In a complaint given to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan by film director Balachandra Kumar, several serious allegations have been raised against actor Dileep in connection with the case.
The director had said that he was a witness for the friendship between actor Dileep and 'Pulsor' Suni, two accused in the case. According to Balachandra Kumar's statement, Dileep received the tablet, containing the visuals of Pulsar Suni intimidating the actress in a moving car, during his presence. He also said that Dileep called him to watch the clippings.
The state government has formed a special team to investigate the latest developments in the sexual harassment of a Malayalam actor. The Police inquiry team is likely to put Balachandran Kumar to a lie-detector test to check the credibility of his allegations. If allegations turn out to be true, Kumar will be a crucial witness in the case that saw many hostilities.
On January 5, the Kerala government moved the Supreme Court seeking an extension of the trial by six months. Meanwhile, actor Dileep has also filed a complaint against the prosecution alleging that Balachandra Kumar was influenced by the investigation officer of the case Baiju Poulose. Dileep in a letter to DGP had requested that Baiju Poulose should not be heading the investigation.
The incident occurred in February 2017 when a top leading actress was kidnapped and assaulted allegedly on the behest of Dileep. It is being alleged that the prime accused, 'Pulsar' Suni was paid by actor Dileep to kidnap and assault the female actor. In July 2017, Dileep was arrested and named the alleged mastermind of the attack. However, he was released on bail before the end of three months.
