At least 26 Congress leaders recently wrote a letter to the party high command demanding big-ticket reforms within the Grand Old Party. They also said that the Congress party needs full-time leadership. This letter has not gone down well with Rahul Gandhi, who on Monday accused the letter-writers of working in collaboration with the BJP.
News agency IANS has reported that the Congress Working Committee meeting on Monday "saw intense action and reactions between the members amid open rebellion."
Former Union Minister Kapil Sibal, who has been a Congress loyalist, tweeted, "Rahul Gandhi says “we are colluding with BJP." Succeeded in Rajasthan High Court defending the Congress Party. Defending party in Manipur to bring down BJP Govt. Last 30 years have never made a statement in favour of BJP on any issue. Yet “we are colluding with the BJP!". This is a clear-cut jibe at Rahul.
Soon after Sibal's tweet, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted, "Shri Rahul Gandhi hasn’t said a word of this nature nor alluded to it. Please don’t be mislead by false media discourse or misinformation being spread. But yes, we all need to work together in fighting the draconian Modi rule rather then fighting & hurting each other & the Congress."
There surely is a major rift in the party!
