Majaa
A remake of the Malayalam hit Thommanum Makkalum, Maja has generated a lot of interest as it is Vikram's next after Anniyan.
With Asin for his company for the first time, he plays the role played by Mammooty in the original.
Malayalam director Shafi, who wielded the megaphone for the original, is directing Maja.
On his experiences working in the movie, Vikram says, 'it was nice to do a lighter role after the heavy dose of action in Anniyan. There were many fun-filled moments during the shoot that progressed at a brisk pace. It was a refreshing experience.'
With a string of hits behind him in Malayalam - One Man Show, Kalyanaraman and Pulivel Kalyanam - director Shafi, on his debut venture in Tamil says, 'I was keen to do a Tamil film. It was a pleasant surprise to get a call from Vikram, impressed with my work in Thommanun Makkalum. I immediately accepted his request for turning the script in Tamil.'
Pasupathi, Vadivel, Manivannan, Vijayakumar, Muthukalai and others are the supporting cast.
Music is by Vidyasagar while editing by V T Vijayan and art by M Prabhakar.
Shafi says the movie is all about Manivanan Thommun, who raises two orphaned but wayward kids,Vikram and Pasupathy. The story begins when they decide to mend their ways and lead a hardworking life. They migrate to a village and get involved in the lives of the local people. The story moves on as they take on the feudal head of the village. There are the many twists and turns and misunderstandings between the lead actors before the climax.
The movie would be a hilarious entertainer that is sure to click well at the box-office, he says and adds with Vikram and Pasupathy playing brothers, the movie has interesting sequence of events.
