The grand 50-day celebration that was organised in Vijayawada on Nov. 12, was an occasion for Mahesh Babu to attribute the success of Dookudu to its director Sreenu Vytla. The event was meant to celebrate the biggest success in Mahesh's career. The film is also the biggest hit in the 80-year old history of Telugu cinema. Those who attended the function - from veterans like K Raghavendra Rao, Murli Mohan and others to ace directors like Sukumar, congratulated Mahesh on the success. Superstar Krishna and Vijaya Nirmala expressed their happiness at the way Dookudu became a hit.
Mahesh's speech was the most-awaited. When his turn came, the Prince, in all humility, thanked the audience (especially his fans, who like him just as they admired his father) for their constant support. He said, "The film has been such a blockbuster only thanks to Sreenu Vytla. But for him Dookudu would not have come out so really well.
"I thank all my co-stars in the movie. This was the first time that I was working with so many actors and I learnt something or the other from each one of them. It was a memorable experience. This is the second time that I am celebrating a success event at Vijayawada since Okkadu. I am very lucky to have the blessings of countless fans," Mahesh said.
Sreenu Vytla suggested in his speech that Mahesh was a revelation to him. "He is a fantastic actor. Never the one to fail as an actor, Mahesh is someone with whom I would love to work with again and again."
Superstar Krishna showered panegyrics on his son in good measure. Saying that Mahesh had always been an audacious actor, who never used a body double even as a child artiste, he said that Dookudu was a film which never bored. He complicated Vytla and congratulated the producers.
Samantha, who is one of the major attractions of the film, expressed joy at being part of such a celebration. She said that it was an honour to work with Mahesh and thanked the producers for trusting her.
Mahesh, on his part, had begun his speech by recollecting one more time what transpired between Krishna and Vytla on the day of the film's release. Krishna called up the director and congratulated him on making it big. He predicted that the film will collect at least Rs. 80 cr. (The film, as of Nov. 11, collected Rs. 101 cr.).
