'Arjun' may not have been a blockbuster, but Mahesh Babu's performance in this flick is counted among his best acts till date. Gunasekhar had by then given the star the status of superstardom through 'Okkadu' (that was more than two years before). With the crazy combination of Mahesh Babu-Gunasekhar-Mani Sharma-Prakash Raj coming, audiences thronged to theatres in hordes to catch Mahesh in a most intense role ever.

The story of a brother out to protect his sister (played by Keerthi Reddy) from the evil designs of her in-laws had many takers, especially among female audiences. Mahesh as a gutsy brother Arjun stole the show in a number of scenes. The 'raksha bandhan' was a new point.

Thota Tharani's celebrated Meenakshi Temple set became a tourist spot. Prakash Raj, Saritha, Keerthi Reddy, and Shriya Saran delivered a dekko.

It is fitting that this movie's 12th year falls on the auspicious Rakhi 'pournami', a festival that stands for the cordiality of brothers and sisters.
