That Mahesh Babu has been quite choosy about his directors is to state the obvious. He is like any other superstar as far as this is concerned. What is unique is that he has of late been surprising with his choice of directors. Working with Srikanth Addala, who could not portray him to the satisfaction of his fans in the past (read Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu), and who delivered a flop film (Mukunda), is a case in point.
Latest, he is learnt to have zeroed in on Shekar Kammula. It is known that Kammula has been vying to work with Prince for at least three years now. Since his attempts to cajole Mahesh failed, he decided to remake Happy Days in Hindi. This will go on the floors in March.
However, Mahesh seems to have finally given the nod to Kammula. If everything goes well, this will be his film after the AR Murugadoss film, which is touted to be the costliest film in Mahesh's career.
Neither Addala nor Kammula have an image to make a convincing film for the masses. Moreover, like Addala, Kammula hasn't had a BO blockbuster in over 6 years. In this context, Mahesh's green signal is a matter of surprise!
