Mahesh Babu kept messaging me for a week: Murugadoss

'Spyder', released in 2017, turned out to be one of the biggest disasters of the decade. Yet, Mahesh Babu was not a bit unkind toward director AR Murugadoss.

Speaking in his latest interview, Murugadoss today said that Mahesh is a pure-hearted man. After it became clear that the film would flop, Mahesh sir kept messaging me for a week, motivating me and telling me not to lose heart. I was pained because of the bad result. But he told me that flops are common even when you work the hardest. He asked me not to get disappointed. Since he had had a flop ('Brahmotsavam') before 'Spyder', I was feeling very guilty, the director said.

He further added, That pain is still there inside. It's common for heroes to be good with directors who gave them a hit. But Mahesh sir has shown love toward me despite the flop. That needs a big heart.

Murugadoss doesn't want to do a straight Telugu film unless he is very confident about the script. When you are doing a bilingual, some or the other calculation can go wrong. Something can go missing, he said.

What about the proposed film with Allu Arjun? He is busy with his own projects, Murugadoss replied, suggesting that the collaboration is not going to happen anytime soon.
