'Brahmotsavam' is not like 'Arjun' sentiment: Mahesh Babu [Interview]
Send us your feedback to audioarticles@vaarta.com
Days ahead of the release of 'Brahmotsavam', Mahesh Babu talks about what is his current state of mind, whether the sister sentiment in the film is akin to what was there in 'Arjun', doing a softcore role once again, unlearning for playing the role, and more.
What is your current state of mind?
I have been working without sleep for some days now. I am very happy with the output. We have tried to say what is in store in the trailer. We are very clear.
Is it true that there is the element of sister sentiment in the film like 'Arjun' had?
Not at all. 'Brahmotsavam' is a totally new concept. It's not like 'Arjun', which too had sister sentiment. Even my characterization is not similar to that of what we saw in my previous film with Srikanth Addala. In 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu', he presented me in a new way. In 'Brahmotsavam', it's a total contrast, once again.
After 'Srimanthudu', you are once again doing a softcore role. Isn't it?
I am really lucky to be doing this film after a film like 'Srimanthudu'. It was not planned. Srikanth Addala garu had narrated me this line during the shoot of 'Srimanthudu'. Even though it's a softcore role, it's in contrast with what we saw in 'SVSC'. We have shot in outdoor locations across Haridwar, Pune and Udaipur. I am thankful to PVP garu for believing in the character. With producers like him, more and more family entertainers are going to come.
The first look, which had you wearing shoes for your father, generated quite a talk.
It's Srikanth Addala's idea. When he told me the same, I felt quite positive about it.
Did you have to unlearn for this role?
Yes, there was unlearning process. One has to be pure while playing a character like this. Emotions should be real; one shouldn't come across as acting.
Was it easy to get into the skin of the character, considering the film belongs to family entertainer genre?
After two-three days, it was easy to get into the character. I started enjoying once I got into that. I was tensed on day one because the schedule had so many senior actors. But since it was a song, it was helpful. I also got to learn a lot from senior actors.
What message does 'Brahmotsavam' drive home?
In modern life, we tend to forget family values because of the hectic schedule. The audience will remember forgotten emotions after watching this movie.
Are you excited to work with AR Murugadoss?
Of course. Working with him is a dream-come-true for me. It's going to be a bilingual. I am excited to be a part of this project.
