Mahesh Babu's bank accounts frozen

Top South Indian superstar Mahesh Babu's bank accounts containing cash worth 73.5 lakhs have been frozen by the Goods and Services Tax Department (GST). It is said that the mass hero has dues of 18.5 lakhs pending for the year 2007-08 for income from his acting career, rendering services as brand ambassador and acting in advertisements and promotions of products.
GST officials have stated that the 73.5 lakhs is the tax plus penalties on default and rupees 43 lakhs has already been recovered from Axis Bank while ICICI has promised to pay up the rest of the money from Mahesh Babu's account failing which action will be taken against the bank as well. The Tollywood Prince had approached a tribunal for reducing the fine but has been denied any concession.
On the professional front Mahesh Babu is currently shooting for 'Maharshi' directed by Vamsi Padapally and starring Pooja Hegde as the leading lady.
