He is the prince of the box-office. Dookudu not only proved that Mahesh is a non-pareil when it comes to making the cash registers go ring-a-ring, but also consolidated his standing beyond doubt. Here is what the actor has told a newspaper – he wants to win a National Award.

Before you jump the gun, let you be informed that Mahesh doesn't intend to act in art films. He is aware of his responsibilities and wants to take into consideration the expectations from him. Thus, he wants to win a National Award through an out and out commercial film.

"If your film is being sold for Rs. 40 crore, you cannot indulge or seek escapism in art. A lot of families depend on the film, a lot of people invest in me... I cannot take chances unless I produce and distribute."

The actor is conscious of the fact that he has overcome his limitations in Dookudu, thanks to Sreenu Vytla. He says, "Three years back, people said I was weak in comedy. I always believed I had it in me and I could pull it off - it's just that Sreenu Vytla capitalized on it," he says.

Asked if he would ever want to remake Superstar Krishna's Alluri Seetharamaraju, he categorically said that he will not touch the film with a barge pole. The actor has also committed himself to doing two-three films per year.
