Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the former Malaysian Prime Minister, has made hateful comments against the French people on Twitter. Reacting to jihadist attacks in France in recent days, Mahathir spoke in the language of a Hitler.
In a now-deleted tweet, Mahathir wrote this: "Muslims have a right to be angry and to kill millions of French people for the massacres of the past." After huge outrage, Twitter pulled down the tweet.
In another tweet, he wrote, "Since you have blamed all Muslims and the Muslims’ religion for what was done by one angry person, the Muslims have a right to punish the French." This has been seen as abetment to violence.
Criticizing French President Emmanuel Macron, he wrote, "Macron is not showing that he is civilized. He is very primitive in blaming the religion of Islam and Muslims for the killing of the insulting school teacher. It is not in keeping with the teachings of Islam."
The two-time PM of Malaysia has in the past supported Pakistan with regards to the Kashmir issue.
