Maharshi Trailer: Those familiar elements

The Trailer for 'Maharshi' gives us enough reasons to see the film and Mahesh Babu's character as extensions of what we have seen in 'Srimanthudu'. Add some premium to the 'Srimanthudu' look and you have Rishi, whose journey starts in a college, takes off to a distant land where he marvels in riches, only to happily end up in a village in Andhra Pradesh as a glamorous farmer.

We are introduced to a scheming villain (?) in Jagapathi Babu, who gets suave once again after 'Nannaku Prematho'. The villainy shouldn't remind us of anything associated with the previous movie of the actor. If it does, at least the hero's response shouldn't be a throwback to that movie.

Allari Naresh plays a bumbling college-goer, who strikes a friendship with Pooja (Pooja Hegde) and Rishi. There are vibes of '3 Idiots' in this segment. Since he is not seen in the trailer's later stages, does his character die mid-way?

Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, Vennela Kishore, Jaya Sudha, and others are seen. The parents-Rishi track may be substantial.

Ram-Lakshman duo's fights may not be the mainstay. KU Mohanan's visuals look pleasing, while Devi Sri Prasad's RR needs to really rev up the proceedings. The songs have been lackluster anyways.

The film, produced by Dil Raju, C Ashwini Dutt and PVP, will hit the screens on May 9.
