Maharshi ticket rates: Minister is angry, moots legal action

Telangana Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav is miffed with several theatre managements in Hyderabad for hiking the ticket rates of 'Maharshi' by Rs 30 (single screens) and Rs 50 (multiplex screens).

"They have raised the prices without seeking permission from the government. We don't intend to put the common man to inconvenience by letting the theatres hike the rates as per their whims.  I have spoken to concerned departments to reverse the hike in the rates," Yadav today said.

The Government is understood to be mooting legal action, by approaching the court, against theatre managements.  This is because theatres are stating that they have hiked the ticket rates on the basis of a court order.

The theatres are planning to sell the tickets at inflated prices till May 22.  But if the court intervenes against the raised prices, they won't be able to implement the plan.
