'Maharshi': Ticket rates hiked with permission

'Maharshi' is releasing on May 9. With high stakes at play, theatres are finding ways to maximize revenue.

Single screens have reportedly hiked the ticket rate from Rs 80 to Rs 110. Multiplexes have hiked ticket prices by up to Rs 50. A multiplex in Hyderabad has taken the rate from Rs 138 to Rs 200.

The hikes have been effected with permission from the relevant authorities. They will be in force for two weeks.

Permissions for extra shows are awaited in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
