A man from the Chandrapur district in Maharashtra was arrested on Monday after he was accused of raping his two minor daughters over the last five years at their residence.

The accused, identified as a primary school teacher in Naghbid, has allegedly been raping his 17-year-old daughter for five years, while he has been sexually assaulting his 14-year-old daughter for a year. The wife of the accused has been sick and bed-ridden for many years, according to a report. The girls did not reveal the matter to anyone as they had been threatened to keep it a secret by their father. It finally came out in the open when the victims decided to disclose the matter to their uncle.

The accused has been arrested and booked under Section 376 (Punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Investigation of the matter is currently underway.
