Mahaan: Syndicate gangsterism trumps idealism

'Mahaan', to be released in Telugu, Tamil and other languages on February 10 on Amazon Prime, is directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Vikram plays Gandhi Mahaan, whose father and grandfather were for Prohibition. As a child, Gandhi promises to his father to manifest Mahatma Gandhi's dream of complete prohibition of liquor.

Cut to the present day, Gandhi helms a syndicate that rules the roost in the dark world of toddy shops. There is blood, machination and worse in this world. Dhruv Vikram, who makes an entry towards the end of the teaser, looks to have an intense role, much like his father Vikram.

Bobby Simha, yesteryear superstar actress Simran, Sananth, and Muthukumar have prominent roles in the actioner.

With music by Santhosh Narayanan, the film is produced by SS Lalit Kumar. Shreyaas Krishna has cranked the camera, while Vivek Harshan has edited the movie. Production Design is by T Santanam and Kumar Gangappan. Stunts are by Dinesh Subbarayan, while choreography is by M Sherif. Sound Design is by Kunal Rajan.
