The film with a few diversions in the script not allows the hero of the film Deepak to exercise his image. The script is wafer thin and screenplay is jaded at places. Debutant director Suresh Goswami is promising in bits and pieces. Producer Ba Ma Harish given a solid image to his relative Deepak in 'Shishya' but that is not continued in this 'Magadi'. After 'Shishya' Deepak acted in a few sundry films but a lot was expected from this film.
Magadi (Deepak) friendly to Pavithra (Rakshita) in the child hood is given care by Pavithra grandfather (Kunigal Nagabhushan) but soon Pavithra father a drunkard takes her and sell his daughter. That cute young girl grows in a prostitute house but she is clean and right according to her name Pavithra.
Eking out a living with struggle Magadi joins the team of an underworld don but he does not take up any deals. He uses clever thinking and wins the heart of his boss. In the locality where Magadi is living the councilor son (Amith) creates trouble to Pavithra. The prostitute (Padma Vasanthi) seeks the help of underworld don in toning down councilor son. The job of protecting the daughter of prostitute is assigned to Magadi.
The shock is now for Pavithra as Magadi staying overnight in his sleep sings the song Naavaduva Nudiye Kannada Nudi..That song unites Pavithra and Magadi. The rival gang of Magadi boss makes an attack at this time and accidentally makes Magadi to kill a prominent in the rival gang because he is on the spot.
Killing of a big opponent by Magadi earns him imprisonment but boss is there to get him bail. Not everything is fine in the life of Magadi after the marriage with Pavithra takes up. It is a tragedy end for the new couple.
Deepak looks good and ape Shanker Nag style at some places. He is good in terrific action scenes. Rakshita making debut in Kannada has nothing much to prove her mettle. Rangateja, Amith and Padma Vasanthi shine in the given roles.
Rajesh Ramanathan has only one melody and another one is tolerable. The cinematography of S Ramesh is nothing special.
Director Goswami instead of deviating with many characters made a crisp and tidy film to showcase the action image of Deepak.
Score - 5/10
