On Wednesday, sections of media reported that four youths in connection with the threatening and blackmailing of 'Avunu' actress Poorna (known as Shamna Kasim in Mollywood) have been arrested. The accused were nabbed by the Maradu police in Kerala on the complaint of the actress’ mother. According to the complaint, the accused had demanded one lakh cash and threatened to damage her career if she doesn't oblige.

"All the four have been arrested and they are now remanded to judicial custody. The probe is going on," said the police official. The detained have been identified as Sharath, Ashraf of Kaipamangalam, Rafeeq of Vadanappally and Ramesh of Kadavannoor.

As per latest reports, there is a mafia behind the blackmailing. Not just Poorna but several models from Kerala have been victimized in the past.

Mathrubhumi has reported that a six-member gang in May reached out to Poorna's family, saying that they can ensure a marriage proposal for the actress. Days passed but no progress took place. On a day, a few members of the gang were spotted at the actress' residence, apparently clicking pictures.

This sparked doubts in the actress' mother, who decided to take the help of the police. The report says that the 'Avunu-2' actress even received a death threat.

Police department is probing the matter.
