Weeks, after the foundation stone for the new building for Nadigat Sangam was laid by Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, a local colony association had filed a case in the Madras High Court alleging that the Sangam has encroached upon a 33 feet road used by the public.

The Sangam's Preisdent Nasser said that the allegation was false and proper approvals were received from the CMDA and Chennai Corporation for the construction of the building.

Today (May 4, 2017), the matter came up for hearing in front of a two judge bench of the Madras High Court. The court has issued notice to the CMDA, Chennai Corporation and also the Nadigar Sangam.

"Why are you encroaching public roads? Don't you have money?" the Judges asked the actor's body

The Nadigar Sangam and the two Government authorities are expected to file their reply soon.
