After the foundation stone was laid for the construction of new building for the Nadigar Sangam, a local colony association had filed a case in the Madras High Court alleging that the Sangam has encroached upon a 33 feet road used by the public.

Earlier this week the High Court had issued notices to the Sangam as well as the CMDA and Chennai Corporation which gave approval for the construction

Today in its order, the Court has appointed a surveyor to check whether the public path has been encroached and file his report. Until then the Court has issued an interim stay on the construction.

This means the construction has to be withheld until the Court vacates the stay order.
