A young woman from Madhya Pradesh has applied for a divorce from her husband after he refused to bathe or shave his beard for 8 consecutive days.

The 23-year-old woman and her 25-year-old husband have filed a mutual consent plea for a divorce after the man refused to shower for several days. The woman, who could no longer bear the stench, complained about the same to her husband, who tried covering up the odor with perfume. The court counsellor claimed the reason for the divorce as “petty” and added that the Bhopal court has directed the couple to stay separately for 6 months, following the successful completion of which they will be granted with the divorce.

The man apparently belongs to the Sindhi family while the woman is a Brahmin. The marriage was arranged by the couple’s parents who initially pleaded with the woman to not walk out of the marriage.
