In a video that has gone viral on social media, two girls are seen stranded in the middle of the Pench river in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district while the police personnel rescue them from the spot.
The girls, who were out on a picnic with a group of friends, had apparently gone to the middle of the river to click a selfie standing over a rock. The water level rose unexpected in just a few minutes, leaving the two of them stuck on the spot. Their friends who had come along with them immediately called up the police administration to inform them of the situation. The police crew later performed a rescue operation for over an hour and got the girls out with the help of a few locals. The video of the incident has been going viral on social media, with several people criticizing the girls for their reckless act.
Narrating the ordeal, a police official reportedly stated, "A few girls came to this mountain river Pench, out of which 2 of them went inside to take a selfie. During that time because of rains, the river flow suddenly increased. They stood there for around 1 hour and showed courage. As soon as we were informed, we rescued them. Everyone is safe. They have been sent to a hospital as they were scared."
