Hardly any one would have thought that this cadet of ‘Sea Hawks’ will one day be quite famous as an ‘Idiot’. The South-North actor, R. Madhavan aka Maddy for his fans, created a niche on screens with his dimpled looks and distinct style of acting.

He would have given only handful of films in Hindi, but Madhavan proved his mantle and got to work with eminent stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty…

The actor of late wrapped the shooting of ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, co-starring Kangana Ranaut. Then he has ‘Freedom’, with Sanjay Dutt to share the screen space. Rumours are making noise that Maddy is being considered for a reality quiz show, which will be from Siddhart Basu’s banner.

Meanwhile Madhavan has shifted his focus towards a Tamil project which will have Kamal Hasan (who is co-starring with Maddy for second time) and Trisha (who is making a debut in Bollywood with ‘Khatta Meetha’). After completing his work commitments the dusky hero is planning to take an eight-month break from August. And what is he going to do with the ample time? Maddy stated that he will be seriously working on building a slim and trim image. Besides, he is planning to try his hand at writing stories and scripting.

Turning 40 today, Madhavan is said to go in for a quiet birthday, by spending time with his wife and close friends.
