Madhavan reveals the shocking reason behind Vedaant’s popularity

Madhavan’s son Vedaant recent rewrote the freestyle swimming record and clocked 16:01.73, at the Junior National Aquatic Championships 2022. He erased his state-mate Advait Page’s 2017 record of 16:06.43 seconds and took home a gold medal.

As Madhavan and his wife Sarita are gushing with joy, the former also spoke about the media glare and the attention his son Vedaant is receiving. “Vedaant, I and Sarita realised that he got a lot of attention because he is my child. His achievements are not at par with the fame he is getting right now. He’s won a few competitions and still has a long way to go. There are better swimmers in his age group in India. The good news is that Vedaant realises it. He is sanitised from all this popularity in Dubai. And he still gets up at 4 am for his swimming sessions. I tell him, ‘with all this popularity, you better get into Olympics’ (laughs).”

“I enjoy the fact that he enjoys swimming and we love seeing him doing what he loves. So, I am definitely not putting acting or anything on his mind. He enjoys swimming, business management and economics.” Talking about his relocation to Dubai he said, “the pools were closed in Mumbai. But now, his school is open, so we can’t discontinue that. Once he completes his 12th, we’ll think about the next step.”

Madhavan was last seen in the movie Rocketry: The Nambi Effect which is based on the life of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, who was falsely charged with espionage. He also directed the movie and played the titular role
