Lizzo and SZA Headlined Made in America Festival Canceled for 2023

Jay-Z’s annual Made in America music festival, set to feature headliners Lizzo and SZA, has been cancelled for this year. The 2023 Made in America festival was announced on the festival’s social media that due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, the 2023 Made in America festival will not proceed. This decision has been challenging and was made after careful consideration.

The festival didn't provide much context as to why the cancellation was happening. However, it comes in response to a lawsuit that three former tour dancers filed last month against Lizzo and staff members of Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc. They claimed she and her team fostered a hostile work environment, including allegations of sexual harassment and dancers being pressured to perform sexually explicit acts while on stage.

The two-day festival was set to take place Sept. 2 and 3 on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, with guest stars like Miguel, Tems, Metro Boomin, Ice Spice, Coi Lera, Latto, Lil Yachty, and more.

The statement from the festival read, Made in America has a long tradition of delivering exceptional experiences to music enthusiasts and concert attendees, and we’re proud to maintain that standard. We look forward to our return to Benjamin Franklin Parkway in 2024 and the wonderful city of Philadelphia. All ticket holders will receive refunds through their original point of purchase.
