MACTA march to Mammootty's location

MACTA (Malayalam Cine Technicians Association) members, headed by its general secretary Baiju Kottarakkara who had held a march to the location of Dileep’s movie ‘Bodyguard’ at Varikkassery Mana in Ottapalam on Saturday, again made similar protest by barging into the location of Mammootty’s ‘Daddy Cool’ in Muhamma on Sunday. The protesters which included AITUC members also were resisted by the a few police man initially, but when Mammootty's supporters and DYFI activists tried to protect the star, a tense atmosphere remained in the location for many hours. The shooting was disrupted for some time in Muhamma.

The march was organised to by a fraction of MACTA to protest the alleged efforts to deny job to MACTA Federation members, being made under the leadership of Mammootty and Dileep. The ten demands of the protesters include ending the denial of job to technicians at the insistence of superstars and wage hike for workers.

The association of Mammootty’s fans accused MACTA for making baseless allegations against the megastar. Reports are that fan association members are planning to retaliate by laying siege on the house of MACTA Federation president, director Vinayan. The unit of ‘Bodyguard’ has also made a written complaint to police, against Baiju Kottarakkara and other 30 members who created much loss to the production. Meanwhile, the MACTA Federation announced that they were suspending the protest till April 23, as actor Suresh Gopi has taken an initiative to hold a meeting with all concerned outfits of film field to end the problems plaguing the Malayalam industry.

19th step: A big step for Indian cinema

It is no news now that Kamal Haasan will be doing a cameo in a film on martial arts. The Ghajini-star Asin will team up with her ‘Dasavatharam’ hero again for this film. Asin plays a princess in the film while Kamal plays her guru in martial arts for the movie. Asin is paired with Japanese superstar Tadanobu Asanno for this flick, which is directed by Bharat Bala.
