Machine Review

Expectations

Director duo Abaas-Mustan are known as a brand when it comes to Bollywood thrillers. People refer their type of films as a metaphor to emphasize fast pace thrillers with loads of twist and turns. Right since the 'Khiladi' days to the super success of 'Race', these directors have made their mark with their audience.

Their latest film 'Machine', which also marks the debut of Abbas's son Mustafa in the lead role is eagerly awaited by Abbas Mustan diehard fans. Sadly, the low promotions and lack of face value has reduced the expectation level to almost zero.

Story

'Machine' is a story of Sarah (Kiara Advani) a fast car racer, who loses her dream car race due to Ransh (Mustafa). Ransh joins the same college where Sarah and her friends are studying. The friendship between Ransh and Sarah keeps growing, until one fine day when Ransh proposes to Sarah for marriage. Sarah and her father (Ronit Roy) agrees over Ransh's proposal.

After marriage, Sarah and Ransh sets out for their honeymoon, where an unexpected incident takes place which changes the lives of Sarah and Ransh forever.

The 'Glitz' Factor

There are very few glitz factor in this film. The locations are breath taking and the movie looks visually appealing. The fast car race is shot and presented brilliantly. A couple of songs are enjoyable. Kiara Advani looks pretty and does her part.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The story is bad remix of 'Bazigar' and has been presented in total bland and boring manner. The movie is super long and has not even single twist and turns making it even slightly interesting. The story narrative is highly predictable and has nothing new in it.

The romantic track is super stretched and fails to create ripples. You are forced to witness world's worst format of Romeo and Juliet followed by forced twist and turns. Everything happens in a convenient manner without any hardship. The dialogues are trashy and will manage to give you unintentional laughs at various points. The actors fall from a building or a cliff and takes ages to hit the rock bottom. The comedy track featuring Abaas-Mustan's lucky mascot Johnny Lever is bland and fails to work in the movie.

It seems that director duo reserved the worst script for their family member. This two and half hour long saga ends up being a Abbas Mustan's worst film till date. Every scene seems trashy, forced and melodramatic. The finale is the worst part in the film where the secret being the film's title is revealed. If this movie would had been a live experience then the audience would had thrown shoes, rotten tomatoes and bad eggs on the screen.

Mustafa looks decent, but tries to act like a superstar. Being not a superstar, he ends up looking stupid and lame at times. Ronit Roy, Dilip Tahir, Johnny Lever and others overacts. Eshan Shankar is the worst from the lot.

Final 'Glitz'

'Machine' is a heartless film made without any heart in it and will be liked by only by the heartless people.
