In the shades of Rehman the music for Junior Shivaji aka Dushyanth's next venture Machi is out. It marks the debut of A R Rehman's sister Rehana as music-composer. This has created a curiosity among  music buffs to listen to the songs. But has she lived up to the expectations is a big question.

Rehana has come out with six numbers in the movie. Almost all songs sound quite typical to Rehman's style.

The highlight of the music album is a hip-hop rap song laced with tunes of Punjabi Bhangra. This rap song, Holiday, being rendered by Devan and Bonny deserves a special mention, while Hariharan and Sujatha as usual lend their voice for a couple of melodious numbers, Manamae and Thodu Thodu respectively. The rest of the numbers fail to impress the listeners. Quite like her brother, Rehana has introduced a pleothra of new singers for her album. They include Shamsuddin, Rajchand, Sri Vidhya  and Ganga Ulaganatha.

Interestingly, the arrival of a woman composer is a welcome thing in the industry. More so, considering this as her debut venture, one can understand her shortcomings. But if she prefers to have a style of her own in composing music rather than reflecting Rehman's, her success is assured.
