Machi

Undeterred by the none-too-impressive performance of his debut film - Success, Dushyanth aka Junior Sivaji, grandson of thespian Sivaji Ganesan, is currently busy with Machchi.

After producing films like King, Thiruda Thirudi and Pudhukottaiyil Irundhu Saravanan, Indian Theatre Productions is getting ready for the next venture. The film marks the debut of director K S Vasanth Kumar.

Dushyanth is playing the hero and a debutant Subha Punja, the winner of the Miss Chennai Top Model last year is cast as the heroine. A R Rehman's sister A R Rehana is being introduced as a music composer.

Until now, only directors in Bollywood like Yash Chopra and Mahesh Bhatt had been using a method called 'Workshop' for their movies, wherein the entire cast will be provided formal training for more than a month on theroles that have to perform on screen. For the first time, this method is being tried in Machchi. All the artistes including the hero and heroine were given lessons on mannerisms and behaviour of the character that will be donning in Machchi.

The entire film is being shot in Coimbatore (the story happens there). At LT Road, near Coimbatore bypass road, a new instrument, called Pentagon, was used to shoot a chasing sequence involving four motorbikes and few tipper lorries.

Dushyanth has done a very unusual makeup and styling in the film.

At a time when directors are happy to play it safe by choosing romantic subjects for their first film, K S Vasanthkumar seems to have followed the path shown by Shankar and Maharajan, who chose to make action films.

Pasupathy, who hogged the limelight playing a negative character in Virumandi, Banuchander, Sulakshana and Keerthana are also in the cast.

Produced by S K Krishnakanth, Machchi will be a movie that would go a long way in deciding the future of Dushyanth.
