While a whole lot of movie buffs have marked July 17 as a day of sumptuous treat for them since three films Papanasam`, Maari` and Rajini Murugan` are expected to hit the screens on that day, there is a strong speculation spreading in the industry that the clash between the latter two films is intentioned and well planned.

Maari` directed by Balaji Mohan has Dhanush and Kajal Agarwal in lead roles while Rajini Murugan` directed by Ponram has Siva Karthikeyan and Keerthi Suresh as the lead pair. As it is being speculated that Dhanush and Siva Karthikeyan are not in good terms and the makers of both the films decided to release their films on the same day to ensure the box office clash between the two actors.

However director Balaji Mohan has dismissed such speculations as mere rumours. In a recent interview he has said that the date of release was fixed keepin the Velay Illa Pattadhari sentiment in mind.

As VIP released on July 18, 2014 and became a super hit, the makers of Maari` preferred to release this film on the same weekend on 2015.
