Maanvi Gagroo recalls losing roles because of her weight

Since cinema is a visual artform, filmmakers often prefer to work with actors who look pleasing on screen and this practice promotes unhealthy beauty and fitness standards in society. Things also get worse when makers start focusing more on the appearance of their actors rather than on their talents. Actress Maanvi Gagroo, who is known for her amazing roles in OTT shows, recently shared how she lost multiple roles because for her weight and body type.

In a recent conversation with Navbharat Times, the actress shared that she never considered herself as fat but that changed when she ventured into the acting industry. Maanvi stated, "They did not know what category to fit me in, they did not want to cast me as the lead because I am fat but they could not cast me as a fat girl too, because I was not too fat. Then I felt like ‘Oh, I am fat and I should lose weight’. To tell you the truth, I am yet to accept myself and believe I am perfect as is."

The actress further shared that even after doing lots of shows and some movies, she still has to remind herself that her body is fine. She says, "The problem is, I must be okay with the fact. It is fine, even if I look fat.” For the unversed, Maanvi is known for working in shows like 'Dhoom Machao Dhoom', 'Tripling' and 'Pitchers'. Currently she is awaiting the release of season 3 of 'Tripling'.
