MAA acts tough: Terminates 18 Youtube channels, in addition to 25 channels for Trolling Tollywood Actors

The Tollywood Movie Artists Association (MAA) has recently demonstrated its commitment to protecting its members from online harassment and defamation by terminating a significant number of YouTube channels. This action follows the earlier termination of 25 channels that were accused of publishing trolling content about actors and the association. Today, MAA announced the blocking of an additional 18 YouTube channels for similar reasons, reflecting the association’s ongoing efforts to curb the spread of harmful content.

Latest Developments

In a recent update, MAA shared that they have blocked another 18 YouTube channels that were spreading derogatory and harmful content about their artists. This move is part of their broader strategy to ensure a safe and respectful online environment for Tollywood actors.

Background

A few days ago, MAA treasurer Shiva Balaji, along with actors Rajeev Kanakala and Shivakrishna, met with DGP Dr. Jitender to discuss the issue of online trolling and defamation. The actors requested the DGP to take action against the trolling of actors on social media platforms. The complaint specifically called for police action against those spreading obscene propaganda against MAA and its actors.

 MAA’s Appeal

During the meeting, Shiva Balaji, on behalf of the association, appealed to the DGP to ban five specific YouTube channels. MAA members had already submitted a copy of the complaint to YouTube representatives and asked the DGP to take action against these five channels. The DGP was informed that 25 YouTube channels had already been terminated as part of the ongoing crackdown. It was also mentioned that a cybercrime team has been established under the association to address such issues.

The Tollywood Movie Artists Association’s proactive measures reflect a growing concern among industry professionals regarding the impact of online negativity and defamation. By taking stringent actions against channels that violate the dignity and privacy of actors, MAA aims to create a more respectful and supportive digital space for its members.

This incident highlights the need for robust policies and enforcement mechanisms to protect public figures from online harassment and defamation, ensuring a safer online environment for all. The involvement of law enforcement and online platforms in such cases is crucial for maintaining the integrity and privacy of individuals in the public eye.
