India has continued to be the most dominant team in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 enjoying an unbeaten run into the semi-finals and at various times all the stars Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya have been the mainstay. While Virat Kohli has reinforced his reputation as Mr. Consistent, the old warhorse Mahendra Singh Dhoni has done what he does best holding on at the lower end and though has not finished well has scored 223 runs at almost a run a ball.
The whispers have now grown louder that MSD will be playing his last match for India in this World Cup and many reputed sports publications have run the speculative story. The Thala as he is known in the CSK loving Tamil Nadu is not one to hang around after he feels enough as his decision to retire from tests came suddenly out of the blue with no fanfare.
It is said that the BCCI is looking to groom young talents such as Rishab Pant behind the stumps with an eye at the T20I World Cup that is scheduled next year in Australia. However there is nothing official regarding Dhoni's retirement and fans can rest assured that if at all he does hang up his boots after India wins this world cup it would be a fitting farewell for one of the greatest player and leader the country has ever produced.
