The rift in the DMK seems to be widened after the passing away of its leader Kalaigniar Karunanidhi on the 7th of August as his elder son M.K. Azhagiri has shown strong signs of rebelling. Speaking to newsmen in a recent interaction, Azhagiri has stated that the DMK headed by his younger brother M.K. Stalin does not want him back in the fold as he was ousted from primary membership by his dad three years back.
Azhagiri has hinted that he will announce his next political move after a massive rally that he has planned to conduct on September 5th. He said that the functionaries from all the districts who are supporting him would be consulted and a major decision would be taken. Political analysts are of the opinion that a split seems to be inevitable in the DMK.
