Lyricist Kabilan's heart-melting poem on his daughter Thoorigai!

Thoorigai Kabilan, a fashion designer and writer, and the daughter of Tamil lyricist Kabilan was found dead at her residence in MMDA colony, Arumbakkam in Chennai few weeks ago. It was reported that Thoorigai hanged herself to death.
Kabilan who was devasted by the death of his daughter has now poured his sorrowd in words and has written a heart melting poem for her that reads “எல்லா தூக்க மாத்திரைகளையும் அவளே போட்டுக்கொண்டால் நான் எப்படி தூங்குவேன்” , “எங்கே போனாள் என்று தெரியவில்லை, அவள் காலணி மட்டும் என் வாசலில்” , “மின்விசிறி காற்று வாங்குவதற்கா... உயிரை வாங்குவதற்காக.?” , “அவள் கொடுத்த தேநீர் கோப்பையில் செத்து மிதக்கிறேன், எறும்பாய்..?” , “அவளுக்கு கடவுள் நம்பிக்கை இருக்கா இல்லையா எனக்கு தெரியாது, அவளே என் கடவுள்..!” , “யாரிடம் பேசுவது.. எல்லா குரலிலும் அவளே பதிலளிக்கிறாள்..” , “பகுத்தறிவாளன் ஒரு கடவுளை புதைத்து விட்டான்..!”
The poem loosely translates to "How can I sleep if she takes all the sleeping pills" , "I don't know where she went, only her shoes are at my door" , "Fan to get air... or take life.?" , “I am floating dead in the cup of tea she gave me, like an ant..?” , “I don't know whether she believes in God or not, she is my God..!” , “To whom should I speak.. She herself answers in every voice..” , “The wise man has buried a god..!” Kabilan wrote.
Thoorigai, an MBA graduate, had worked as a costume designer in several Tamil movies and contributed many articles to leading English-language media outlets. She also had been a stylist for many Tamil actors. In 2020, she launched a digital magazine named "Being Women", in which she published interviews with women who made significant achievements in different sectors.
