Mani Rathnam's Ponniyin Selvan has joined the 500 crore club recently and Lyca productions announced it officially on its Twitter handle. Vikram who played an important role in the film has reacted to the happy tweet and it is now going viral on social media platforms.

According to the latest reports, PS-1 becomes 1st Tamil film to surpass the overseas collection of 175 crores. The film has also garnered 500 crores worldwide. Vikram who reacted to this huge milestone on Twitter wrote, "Somebody pls pinch me.. & tell me this is not a dream. #PonniyinSelvan"

Produced by Ratnam and Subaskaran Allirajah under Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, it is the first of two cinematic parts based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel, Ponniyin Selvan. It tells the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman who later turned into the Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I (947 CE – 1014 CE). Kalki visited Sri Lanka 3 times to collect information about it.

Starring a big ensemble cast of Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi Sivakumar, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu Ganesan, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, ‘Ponnyin Selvan’ was released on 30th September 2022.
