Ever since Superstar Rajinikanth cancelled his Sri Lankan visit to distribute houses built by Gnanam Foundation of Lyca Group for the war affected Sri Lankan Tamils, the matter became a topic raging debate in media and social media. Regional as well as National news channels ran prime time debate shows discussing whether Rajinikanth's decision forced by the request of Tamil Nadu politicians is right or wrong.

In one of the debate shows in a Tamil news channel. T.Velmurugan of Tamilar Vazhvurimai Katchi, one of the three prominent politicians who had requested Rajinikanth to cancel his Sri Lankan visit had participated and defended his stand. While doing so, had allegedly made some comments against the Lyca Group of companies.

Now Lyca has filed a criminal complaint as well as a civil defamation suit for Rs.10 crores against Velmurugan for his 'defamatory statement" against Lyca in a news channel debate show.

Here is the official statement from Lyca regarding the issue.
