In the early hours of July 30, 2024, a series of catastrophic landslides struck the Wayanad district of Kerala, India. Triggered by torrential rainfall, hillsides crumbled, unleashing a torrent of mud, water, and boulders that swept through the villages of Mundakkai, Chooralmala, and Meppadi.

The tragedy has claimed at least 334 lives, injured over 200 individuals, and left 281 missing, making it one of the deadliest natural disasters in Kerala's history. This devastating event highlights the increasing vulnerability of the region to extreme weather events.
