National media reports on Tuesday have claimed that the Lieutenant General level talks between the Indian and Chinese armies were successful on Monday. Quoting sources, the likes of NDTV, Economic Times and The Hindu suggested that de-escalation may very much be on.
China is reportedly willing to take "necessary measures to cool down the situation” while continuing with dialogue in order to maintain "peace".
Vishnu Som of NDTV tweeted that "India and China have mutually agreed to disengage in Ladakh. Modalities and disengagement from all areas where there has been friction were discussed in Lt Gen level talks in Moldo yesterday (June 22). Talks have been described as cordial, positive and constructive."
