‘Love Story’, starring Naga Chaitanya and Sekhar Kammula, has set the best US record in terms of openings by collecting 306k dollars from 226 locations. To be sure, this is the best opening grosser so far this year.
Pawan Kalyan's 'Vakeel Saab', which hit the screens on April 9, made $300k. Probably, the fact that it was a remake and not an original film meant that the openings were not overwhelming despite the attraction of Power Star.
'Love Story' has surpassed even Thalapathy Vijay's 'Master' by a huge margin. The action drama had made $138k in January. 'Jathi Ratnalu', which hardly had a star face, made $132k in March.
In his pre-release interview, Naga Chaitanya attributed the craze for 'Love Story' in the US to Sekhar Kammula's image. "The credit goes to him. He is a big brand among the overseas audience," the Akkineni star said.
Starring Sai Pallavi as the heroine, 'Love Story' has Easwari Rao, Rajeev Kanakala and Uttej in important roles. The film has received unanimously positive reviews.
