Cobrapost, a popular media has conducted a sting operation named as Operation Karaoke and this has exposed around 30 Bollywood stars who were ready to take bribes to do online campaigning on their social media accounts for political parties by posting content associated with the party and promoting them ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

The operation Karaoke involved people from Cobrapost pose as PROs and Party related people and meeting the stars and negotiating on the deal and luring them to accept it by offering fancy prices, and most of the stars agreed to the deal as well. The list of stars who accepted the deal mostly had second rung Bollywood actors and TV stars, who accepted the deal to do social media campaigning for parties in return for money ranging from 2 lakhs to several crores besides other benefits.

Some of the prominent stars who accepted the deal include Sunny Leone,Anupam Kher, Sonu Sood, Ameesha Patel,Vivek Oberoi, Jackie Shroff , Shreyas Talpade, Shakti Kapoor, Tisca Chopra, Rakhi Sawant, Pankaj Dheer and his son Nikitin Dheer, Puneet Issar, Koena Mitra, Rajpal Yadav, Minissha Lamba, Mahima Chaudhary, Rohit Roy, Aman Verma, Rahul Bhat, Singers Daler Mehndi, Mika, Abhijeet Bhattacharya , Baba Sehgal, choreographer Ganesh Acharya. Very few actors like Vidya Balan and Arshad Warsi refused to take part in the online campaign for money. This shocking expose of Bollywood has made the industry terrified.
