Proving once again that Sri Reddy is more intellectually honest than most of the stars out there, she has today condemned Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan for justifying casting couch.
"I lost respect for you Saroj ma'am. Being an elder you should give a good path to young actresses. It is giving a wrong indication that you have to be a slave to producers," Sri Reddy told a news agency.
Saroj had said that casting couch is an age-old practice. She refused to condemn it, triggering a barrage of tweets against her and the Bollywood culture of selective outrage.
"Saroj Khan’s brutal admissions & endorsement of casting-couch shows that Bollywood folks don’t think low of molestation and flesh-trade, why do these hypocrites turn up with their filthy, polarising placards to protests against rapes then? A rape is a result of the same mindset," said @AsYouNotWish.
"It is not just in the film industry. It happens everywhere & it is the bitter truth. Don't imagine that Parliament is immune or other workplaces are immune to it. It is time that India stood up & said 'Me Too'," noted Renuka Chowdhary of the Congress.
