Lootera
Film makers who made films like `Dev D', `Udaan' and `The Dirty Picture' have come together for a unique love story `Lootera'. Balaji and Phantom, two of Bollywood's biggest creative powerhouses, have gone ahead to create the new-age romantic duo - with the two most promising debutants of 2010, Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh, who have been cast together for the first time in `Lootera'.
`Lootera' has been directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, whose widely acclaimed debut film Udaan was officially selected to compete in Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival in 2010.
The film is period romance set in 50's... It has been a massive struggle to recreate the look of the era due to the rampant commercialization. The makers have done a lot of research and gone long lengths to get the sets, the look, feel and character sketches etched out. One of the key aspects for the film was also the music. The music in general sets the tone for the film and hence the makers were keen to have the composition like the music of the old era. Music in the 50s was in a sense formatted with 2 antra's followed by a mukhra. Amit Trivedi has delivered the sound track bang-on and the music has been appreciated and loved by audiences.
To keep the story's freshness and suspense intact, the makers of `Lootera' have been keeping the script under wraps. Although they have shared the generic outline of the film of it being a love story, based in the 50's era, the in-depth details of the film have been kept closely guarded. So much that, during the extensive narration sessions, the entire cast and crew was given all screenplays and story details however there was no bound script to take away. Besides, they have also been requested not to share the plot of the film in detail.
To make a note; usually the script of thriller films are kept under wraps, however for the first time this is done for a love story.
`Lootera' is slated to release on 5th July.
