Popular and controversial director Ram Gopal Varma's Kannada film 'Killing Veerappan' has been dubbed in Tamil as ' Villadhi Villain Veerappan' and released all over Tamil Nadu yesterday. RGV says the film is based on the life and execution of slain bandit Veerappan popularly known as Sandanakadathal Veerappan as he smuggled Sandalwood from Sathyamangalam forests to other places.
Veerappan was killed in a well planned encounter operation by the Tamil Nadu police. His wife Muthulakshmi has now urged the Tamil people to boycott the film as it is "full of lies". She seems to be critical of what she thinks are a distortion of facts pertaining to her equations with the late forest brigand.
RGV's films are no stranger to controversies. While the original version (Kannada) was a BO hit, the Telugu version was not far behind. This is touted to be one of the best films to have come from RGV in a long time.
