Soon after the KCR government on Tuesday announced a 10-day lockdown, long queues were witnessed outside wine shops in Hyderabad and other parts of the State. Men who can't live without their share of alcohol lost no time to form serpentine queues to get their mandatory quota.

Stocking up of liquor in anticipation of a lockdown has been happening for the past few days. However, with the Chief Minister formally announcing it today, drinkers flocked to wine shops in large numbers.

Pictures and videos of the crowds at wine shops are doing the rounds on the Internet. Several TV channels have sent their reporters to find out the views of the drinkers on the lockdown. "We can't live without alcohol. If I don't take it for a day, my heart beat stops and my whole body shakes," a typical 'mandu babu' was heard telling ABN with all seriousness.

Since it's not a complete lockdown, there won't be a shortage of liquor while the lockdown lasts. Shops will be open from 6 am to 10 am every day.
