A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death by a group of six teenagers outside a pizzeria at a strip mall in Oceanside, New York, and an 18-year-old suffered a broken arm and a swelling to the head.
The teenager, identified as Khaseem Morris, was attacked by the gang on Monday at around 3.45 pm. The other injured teenager was rushed to a hospital soon after, where he has been receiving treatment. "There was a bunch of people sitting by the Chinese restaurant ... about 15 kids, and then all of a sudden while I was on the phone speaking, eight -- seven or eight kids came from the north and targeted certain people that I believe they were looking for," an eye witness mentioned in a statement.
Alleging that the brawl could've happened over a female, an official involved in the case stated, "During this attack, one of the victims was stabbed multiple times in his upper body. He's now taken to a local hospital where he's fighting for his life right now. This has been and always has been a local gathering for at least Oceanside High School to spill out and go to pizzeria and all the stores here. Now, if these kids are from another area and they came here with a vendetta, whatever their motive was, they knew where to find them. It might've been over a female, it might've been over a school rivalry, but we're leaning towards the first part of that."
Reportedly, over 50 people watched the incident from a few feet away, recording and sharing the videos on social media. The victim's traumatized sister has questioned why everybody decided to record the incident but nobody came to her brother's rescue. "We have a community that is outraged by the death of this young man, we're outraged by the death of this young man. We had people stand by and take video. There is video evidence that is out there, we'd like if you have it to come forward and give it to us," Nassau County's Police Commissioner said.
Haakim Mechan (19), Marquis Stephens Jr. (18), Javonte Neals (18), Taj Woodruff (17), Sean Merritt (17), and two 16-year-old male juveniles have been arrested in connection to the case, according to reports. "The seven subjects were active participants in the attack on Khaseen Morris and his friend. Physically beating, physically hitting people, throwing them to the ground, each one of them had an active role," an official mentioned during a press conference.

Khaseen Morris loved skateboarding, music, tie-dye, and anime. He would've turned 17 next month.
