In Kerala, a group of locals handcuffed a young man who took his new car and drove down the road at 100km speed amid lockdown. The incident happened at the Thaliparamb area in Kannur district. The youngster who has been identified as CH Riyas was reportedly celebrating his maiden drive in his new car at 100-120 kmph speed as there were no vehicles on the road due to the lockdown.
Riyas is hailing from Alambadi, Kasaragod, where there is the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state are recorded. When the locals were informed about the speeding car, that is coming from Kasargode, they blocked the way and did not let him enter Kannur district.
Locals not only blocked the vehicle but also hit the driver and completely damaged the new car. After handcuffing him, the locals handed over him to Taliparamb police along with this vehicle. Later, Riyaz was released in bail. Police said that even though he was earlier convicted of motor vehicle theft, there is no case against him currently.
