Used mostly in films, wedding photography and events, the drones, have recently become Kerala Police's best friend as it provides real-time images and videos of lockdown violators assembling in groups at places where it is difficult to physically clampdown. While the videos of Kerala Police's drone surveillance of violators are doing the round on social media, a young professional drone operator is winning the hearts for a different reason!
Amid the lockdown, a youth in Kerala used a drone to buy prawns from a supermarket, nearly one and a half kilometer from his house. Shameer, a resident of Changanassery in Kerala's Kottayam district, who is a professional drone operator and vlogger, shared a video of him using the drone to buy 500 grams of prawns. He flew his drone fitted with propellers to the supermarket so as to easily transport it.
Operating the drone from his house' terrace, Shameer ordered the shopkeeper over the phone and made an online payment. While the drone reached the shop, the prawns were packed and ready. The employee there tied the packet to a hanging strap on the drone and it returns to Shameer's home. With the video, he also created awareness to follow the lockdown norms and stay at home.
