The lockdown in Telangana has been implemented today in a fierce manner. The traffic and general police have been instructed by the administration in Hyderabad to not spare anybody who is out on the streets riding vehicles.
Latest ground reports say that the vehicles of delivery agents of food delivery giants like Swiggy and Zomato have been seized. A lot of social media users have said that vehicles are being seized by the traffic police if sufficient documentation is not provided to explain their presence on the road.
More than 100 vehicles were stopped and prevented from moving just at the Mehidipatnam check post. Since delivery boys working for the likes of Amazon and Uber Eats were not instructed to stop servicing, they accepted orders. A lot of daily wage earners and those depending on the gig economy have been caught unawares by the arbitrary change of rules.
The DGP of Telangana said that he is personally supervising the situation along with CP Rachakonda Mahesh Bhagwat, Malkajigiri DCP Rakshitha Murthy, and other Police officers. "We are monitoring and surprising the police check posts and #Lockdown implementation on the field under the Rachakonda Commissionerate limits," he wrote.
Residents of Hyderabad have been asked to step out only if essential and required documents are there with them.
