Following the heartbreaking news of legendary football player Cristiano Ronaldo’s newborn son’s death, fans of Liverpool and Manchester United joined together to pay a heartfelt tribute to Ronaldo during the seventh minute of the Premier League match at Anfield.

The United fans started a chant of “Viva Ronaldo” seven minutes into the game followed by a rendition from Liverpool fans of their club anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone” with thunderous applause from all directions. “It’s the worst that can happen. We are behind him. We are all with him. We wish him and his family that they are strong together,” United’s interim manager Ralf Rangnick said. Players from Liverpool and Manchester United also wore black armbands during the match in honor of Ronaldo's late son.

Grieving the death of their newborn, Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez shared a note on Instagram which read, “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time.”
